COLLEGE OF HEALTH PROFESSIONS COMMITTEE DESCRIPTIONS 2007
  • Curriculum
    • Mission and Duties
      • The mission of the Curriculum Committee to consider proposals for new courses, course modifications, new degree programs, majors, and minors, and make recommendations to the University Curriculum Committee.
      • The committee will submit minutes of meetings and an annual report.
    • Meetings
      • The committee shall meet in the last week of August, September, and October for Fall Semester, and times coinciding with the University call for agenda items Spring Semester, if items for consideration have been submitted
    • Membership
      • The committee shall consist of one faculty member from each department the College of Health Professions.
      • The Chair of the committee will be the Assistant Dean.
  • Educational Technology
    • Mission and Duties
      • The committee will determine departmental/program needs for ongoing faculty development educational technology, including group interaction/support/mentoring and updating on new technological possibilities.
      • The committee will explore, develop and provide for needed faculty development, interaction and support, to permit faculty innovation and excellence online and web-enhanced teaching/learning.
      • The committee will explore needed generic student competencies technology, as determined by each department, and ways of providing for those experiences as a part of the learning process.
      • The committee will explore and address ongoing technology concerns and issues within the COHP, and the currently available technologies.
      • The committee will annually evaluate and revise/update the COHP web site as needed.
      • The committee will acknowledge outstanding accomplishment Educational Technology the COHP.
      • The committee will submit minutes of meetings and an annual report.
    • Meetings
      • The Committee shall meet at least once each semester.
    • Membership
      • The membership shall be composed of not more than one faculty member per department who currently utilizing technology the teaching/learning process. Other interested faculty are welcomed to participate the discussion as non-voting members.
      • The Chair of the committee will be the COHP Educational Technology Coordinator
  • Tenure and Promotion
      • Mission and Duties
        • The committee will receive general recommendations on guidelines concerning promotion and tenure and will make recommendations to the Dean of Health Professions and the departments the College.
        • The committee will develop and publicize a timeline concert with the University timeline for submission of required tenure and promotion materials.
        • The committee will utilize established Department/Program criteia for tenure and promotion recommendations.
        • The committee will review the application materials of candidates for tenure and for promotion and make its recommendation to the Dean of Health Professions.This recommendation will also be made known to the Department/Program Head and to the candidate; the recommendation will be part of the entire set of recommendations made by the Dean to the Vice President.
        • The committee will vote by secret ballot; the vote along with diagnostic and prescriptive comments will be included the recommendation of the committee.
        • The committee will recommend revisions to the College of Health Professions Guidelines for Promotion and Tenure to the dean.
        • The committee will submit minutes of meetings and an annual report.
      • Meetings
        • The committee will meet as necessary to complete its mission.
      • Membership
        • The membership shall be composed of one tenured faculty member from each Department the College of Health Professions.
        • A non-tenured member may serve on the committee no tenured faculty from that Department eligible.
        • A department head may serve on the committee no other Department member eligible.
        • Each department will recommend names for the Committee; the members will be selected by the Dean of the College of Health Professions.
          • No representative shall serve more than three consecutive years unless strong justification approved by the Dean.
          • The chair will be elected by the committee to sera one-year term and may be re-elected for a second one year term. The chair will be responsible for:
            • receipt of application materials for tenure and promotion
            • distribution of information concerning the applications to committee members
            • scheduling and overseeing meetings of the committee
            • maintenance of accurate records of all proceedings
            • forwarding the recommendations of the committee to the Dean, Department Head, and candidate
            • smooth transition of the committee from year t
      • Scholarship Committee
        • Mission and duties
          • The mission of the Scholarsship Committee to assess the scholarship mission of the College of Health Professions, disseminate information about research and scholarship opportunities, and promote faculty participation scholarly activities.
          • The committee will submit minutes of meetings and an annual report.
        • Meetings
        • The committee will meet at least once each semester.
        • Membership
          • The membership shall be composed of not more than one faculty member per department.
      • Ad hoc Committee on Work Load Policy
        • An ad hoc committee will be established to study the current College of Health Professions workload policies and report the findings to the Dean and the College faculty.
