Core Value 1- The faculty are dedicated to excellence in teaching using a student centered approach.

   

Goal 1.1

Continue to maintain adequate number of highly qualified faculty and staff.

   

Strategy 1.1.1.

Seek out and "grow our own" faculty from qualified individuals.

Strategy 1.1.2.

Provide mentor system for new and part-time faculty.

Maintain teaching excellence via professional development.

Encourage faculty to participate in available faculty development opportunities.

Core Value 2-Faculty participate in scholarly activities as a foundation for providing improvements in clinical practice, the advancement of professional knowledge and the improvement of instruction and learning.

Continue to actively encourage scholarly activities.

Establish yearly goals based upon possible opportunities available.

Encourage and provide mentorship for students to conduct and present research.

Identify and participate in professional conference/workshops to learn about latest cancer testing.

Incorporate cancer testing theory and application into current curriculum

   

Core Value 3-The College of Health Professions values active communication with the service areas and the professional communities. This includes communication not only for understanding the needs of the service area and the professional communities but also for publicizing educational opportunities available at AASU. Coupled with this is a commitment of the faculty to distinction in community/professional service as well as responsiveness to the needs of the service area and professional community.

   

Goal 3.1

Increase communications with and service to laboratories throughout the state and with local clinical sites.

   

Strategy 3.1.1.

Update and maintain directory of lab managers throughout the state and region on a regular basis.

Strategy 3.1.2.

Explore and or provide opportunities to provide CE to lab managers and personnel

Strategy 3.1.3.

Develop ongoing department newsletter

Maintain and update on regular basis the Department website

   

Goal 3.2

Maintain active involvement in state and national professional societies.

Continue to explore opportunities to provide service via professional activities.

Establish Masters level and/or certificate level programs.

Develop a timeline plan for establishment of this program.

Respond to statewide laboratory manpower needs

Continue to seek external funding to facilitate increased student enrollment to address manpower needs
