Department of Radiologic Sciences
Core Values/Goals/Strategies
2002-2007

Core Value 1- The faculty are dedicated to excellence in teaching using a student centered approach.

Goal 1.1

The Department will develop educational materials that will teach radiologic science practitioners effective methods for interacting with students.

Strategy 1.1.1.

Department faculty will develop and deliver educational workshops for radiologic science practitioners and communities of interest.

Goal 1.2

The department will expand its outreach activities by adding distant clinical sites to increase the number of students admitted into the program.

Strategy 1.2.1.

Increase the number of distant clinical sites. This will be accomplished with the addition of two or three additional sites in the first year and addition of clinical sites in subsequent years.

Strategy 1.2.2.

The radiography and radiation therapy track curriculum will be changed to offer courses via a front loaded-curriculum model.

Explanation of Strategy: Didactic and clinical courses will be offered in blocks of concentrated times. For example; all didactic courses will be offered for junior students in the first half of the semester and the seniors will be in clinicals during this time. After midterm, the groups will switch and the seniors will be in class and the juniors will be in clinic. This will allow the department to accept more students because clinicals will be offered in the morning and afternoon. The addition of distant clinical sites may also allow for the opportunity to recruit from the distant sites.

Goal 1.3
